Inter Miami: 4 potential Designated Players club should sign
By Alex Windley
2. David Silva
Much like Edinson Cavani, David Silva has been linked with a move to Inter Miami since the beginning. At 34 years old, the Spanish international still has a couple more years left in the tank. A move to MLS would not only be great for the league but, for an expansion side like Inter Miami, he would instantly be the center of attention.
Silva would also fit into Diego Alonso’s tactical plans with ease. Playing in a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3, Silva is especially adept and breaking the lines with his passing and finding his teammates with quick, one-touch layoffs that keep defenders on the back foot. In Alonso’s system where passes through the channels and counter-pressing are key, Silva would be perfectly suited to a central midfield or drifting wide role.
Despite the rumors of him possibly returning Valencia when his contract runs up, Silva is probably the best choice on this list. He is known for his work-rate, high character, leadership, and elite playmaking quality, all things that successful ageing European DPs possess in MLS.
