The sensational David Silva will leave Manchester City for MLS expansion team Inter Miami next summer. He is the perfect springboard for David Beckham’s new franchise.

This time, it’s no rumor. Although no contract has been signed yet, sensational Manchester City star David Silva will take a midfield spot on David Beckham’s Inter Miami MLS team when it takes to the pitch next season.

Known Inter Miami roster members that Silva would join include:

  • Midfielder George Acosta
  • Forward Julian Carranza
  • Midfielder Christian Makoun
  • Midfielder David Norman
  • Midfielder Matias Pellegrini

Silva would ensure an offensive style to his midfield position with Inter Miami. His in-game defensive contributions, consistently, are few, but he is a terrific creator and supplier from central midfield.

His most impactful ability is his passing — especially key passes. He can hold onto the ball, has good dribbling skills, and is extremely intelligent. He works all of these skills into a style of play focusing on layoffs and short passes.

Silva was sensational in an August 25 victory over Bournemouth. He was credited with two tackles and a startling 92% passing success, and completed a dispossession, three dribbles and a couple of shots.

Predominantly, Pep Guardiola has utilised a 4-3-3 formation, with Silva shaded to the right of the central midfield trio, alongside the all-world Kevin de Bruyne. Prior to Guardiola’s arrival, he was mainly used as an attacking midfielder, his creative skill set making him the ideal number 10 in behind Sergio Aguero. It is too early to speculate what an incoming Miami head coach might favor in formations, but if the early team builds itself around Silva’s experience, there is proof that it works.

Silva’s departure to go somewhere at the end of his season surprises no one. When and where remain facts to confirm officially, but he will be 34 next summer and has enjoyed an illustrious career to date, so the time to move to pastures new, especially if those pastures involve a lesser standard league, has surely arrived.

Should Silva stay all the way to the end of Manchester City’s season, he would be joining Inter Miami three months after their first MLS game. He is making good on the remaining time has got in Manchester — Silva, true to his word, said he expected not to return to City but he would never join another Premier League team. So the rumors easily segue into the hints that Silva himself provided us.

He has helped Manchester City to four titles, two FA Cups and four League Cups. With that winning pedigree, his undeniable ability, and a highly regarded character that should suit the role of leadership well, Silva seems like the perfect springboard signing for Inter Miami. He has done a lot in the sport. But that will not end anytime soon.
