Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting is out with a knee problem. However, Emil Forsberg appears to have recovered from his hip problem after starting against the Philadelphia Union this week. Matthew Dos Santos has been suffering from a calf injury and only played the first half against the Union. Goalkeeper AJ Marcucci is also out long-term with a cruciate ligament tear. Rafael Mosquera is a doubt due to a thigh injury.
Emil Forsberg is RBNY's captain and talisman. However, in 15 MLS games this year, he has scored just once and set up four goals. Michael Bradley's side has a situation where two of his best players are both left wingers. Forsberg plays left wing, which means that Cade Cowell has to fill in on the right. Julian Hall did not have the best of games against Philadelphia. Therefore, it is a miss that the Red Bulls do not have Choupo-Moting to come off the bench.
Charlotte FC team news
Harry Toffolo is back from his muscle injury and played 90 minutes against Atlanta United this week. Charlotte's other left-back, David Schnegg, can also return to action after his suspension. Liel Abada and Kerwin Vargas both came off against Atlanta due to injury. However, they are still expected to play this Friday. Aron John is out with an upper body problem.
New signing Allan Saint-Maximin will not be available to play against the Red Bulls as visa paperwork still needs to be completed. Saint-Maximin is expected to make his debut in the Leagues Cup next month. However, the Crown still has many star players. This includes a core of Tim Ream, Ashley Westwood and Luca de la Torre.
