FC Porto may be on the verge of losing one of their most valuable players. Canadian midfielder Stephen Eustáquio is a target for Major League Soccer (MLS). With a contract until June 2027, Eustáquio has become a coveted asset, and his departure from the Dragão could happen as early as this summer.

Currently 27 years old, Stephen Eustáquio is on duty with the Canadian national team, preparing to compete in the Copa América. The tournament, running from June 20 to July 14, is the player's current priority. However, after the conclusion of Canada's campaign, Eustáquio will have to make important decisions about his future. Sources close to the player reveal that there have been no formal offers yet, but significant inquiries have been made by MLS clubs.

Eustáquio joined FC Porto in January 2022, initially on loan from Paços de Ferreira. His impressive performances secured a permanent contract, and since then, he has worn the Dragões' shirt on 95 occasions, starting in 57 matches. With 10 goals and eight assists, Eustáquio has stood out as a versatile and efficient midfielder. His best season was 2022/23, when he scored seven goals and provided six assists, playing a crucial role under Sérgio Conceição. However, in the following season, he saw reduced playing time due to the rise of young Nico González, although he still participated in 40 games.

Eustáquio's potential transfer to MLS would not only be a blow to FC Porto but also a significant change in the player's career. With a league title, three Portuguese Cups, one Supercup, and one League Cup on his résumé, Eustáquio may be seeking new challenges and growth opportunities in the North American league.

For FC Porto, Eustáquio's departure would represent a considerable loss, but the club is unlikely to stand in the way of the transfer as long as fair financial compensation is received.

His decision post-Copa América will not only impact his own future but could also influence FC Porto and MLS alike.
