The World Cup and the MLS are not that far apart. Lionel Messi scored a hat-trick against Algeria, and Mbekezeli Mbokazi also joined a select group of African players who played in a World Cup.

This time, the record-breaking moment occurred during the England vs. Croatia match, when an MLS forward scored Croatia's second goal.

Petar Musa recently expressed his desire to return to European football, and with his standout performances at the World Cup, that move now seems within reach.

The encounter between England and Croatia had an interesting first half, with many opportunities for both teams.

At the end of the first 45 minutes, Croatia was down by one goal, when in the last breath before the referee blew the whistle, Petar Musa scored an incredible goal to draw the game.

With his goal against the Three Lions, FC Dallas striker Petar Musa joined an exclusive group in MLS history. The Croatian forward became just the third active MLS player to score for a European nation at a FIFA World Cup, following the footsteps of Gareth Bale and Xherdan Shaqiri.

As if that milestone was not enough, the goal also marked Musa’s 32nd strike in the city of Dallas across all competitions, further cementing his impact since arriving in Major League Soccer.

As the starting striker for Zlatko Dalić, the 28-year-old must continue helping his nation as they will face an uphill fight in their group standings.

With this recent loss, Croatia is put in a tight spot. However, their remaining matches are against Ghana and Panama, opponents that are more accessible than England, considering that the English side was widely expected to top the group before the World Cup began.

Croatia’s next stop is Panama at BMO Field on the 23rd.
