In the international soccer scene, one name has been shining brightly in recent years – Giovanni Alejandro Reyna. Born on November 13, 2002, this young American prodigy has captured the world with his exceptional skills and notable achievements at Borussia Dortmund and the United States national team.

Giovanni Reyna began his journey in youth soccer with New York City FC, but it was in the Bundesliga that he truly made history. Debuting for Borussia Dortmund during the 2019-20 DFB-Pokal, Reyna became the youngest goal-scorer in the history of the German Cup at the age of 17, a feat that only foreshadowed his remarkable impact on the sport.

However, as in any success story, there were challenges. Injuries during the 2021-22 season tested Reyna’s resilience, but his triumphant return in the 2022-23 season, marked by crucial goals and assists, reflects his remarkable determination.

In addition to his club successes, Reyna has left his mark on the United States national team. Since his debut in November 2020, he has participated in crucial victories, standing out in the CONCACAF Nations League in 2021 and 2023. His outstanding performance against Mexico, dribbling past six defenders at Estadio Azteca, echoes in fans’ memories as a moment of genius comparable to Diego Maradona’s “Goal of the Century.”

However, Reyna’s limited participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup generated speculation and debates. A public clash with coach Gregg Berhalter over commitment issues raised questions about the team’s internal dynamics.
