Inter Miami continue to be linked to Lionel Messi

Inter Miami are being linked with some big names in this post-season. Olivier Giroud, Sergio Romero, and most recently Luis Suarez have all been mentioned over recent times. Could they now throw their name into the mix to sign Messi?

His Argentina teammate Gonzalo Higuain is currently on the books of the Herons and could reunite with him for one last hurrah over the coming years. Miami had an interesting first year as an MLS club and will look to start establishing themselves as genuine MLS Cup champion candidates over the next few seasons.

Signing Messi would do them the world a good and again, there is no doubt they would be interested in bringing him to Fort Lauderdale. However, obviously, finances would come into play, geography is also a key factor in this one as Messi may have in mind where he would want to live and play should he make the move to America.

Miami have two very strong players in Higuain and France World Cup winner Blaise Matuidi but there is no doubt they could do with improving the overall standard of the rest of their players. This happened at fellow newcomers LAFC in 2018. Bob Bradley’s men used their first year as a learning curve, bought new players and they ended up topping the Western Conference last year. It is a work in progress and Miami will come back stronger next year.

Back to Messi, he is expected to stay at Barcelona until the end of this campaign at least and then could make a decision on his future next summer. A move to America is on his agenda, but things could change over the coming months. New York City, LA Galaxy, and Inter Miami are all possible destinations for him though.
