The World Cup is around the corner, and every national team is finalizing the last details for the tournament. Although the biggest soccer tournament is four days away from starting, some squads are still playing their last friendly matches before their debut.

Colombia is disputing its last friendly encounter against Jordan, where Nestor Lorenzo, Colombia’s manager, has to decide whether to give the starters a rest.

With that said, the biggest question here is whether James Rodriguez will participate in this clash or if Lorenzo will leave him out of the starting lineup.

Is James Rodriguez playing against Jordan tonight?

James Rodriguez is Colombia’s number 10 and best player, so if you applied some logic here, it would be a no-brainer for him to be in the field from the start. However, Rodriguez indeed arrived at the World Cup with some inconsistent minutes with Minnesota United FC due to injuries.

Nevertheless, the official lineup is released, and James Rodriguez will be Colombia’s captain tonight in their last test, much before the competition. Last week, the former Real Madrid offensive player played 72 minutes in the victory over Costa Rica.

Every report suggests that tonight, Nestor Lorenzo will perform the same scenario: James Rodriguez will play at least 60 minutes, and then be substituted to prevent a possible injury.

This season, the former Bayern Munich player signed with the MLS club to get into the World Cup rhythm, but after he was in Colombia’s 26-man roster, James decided to play his last game against the Colorado Rapids. After that, both parties agree to terminate their contract immediately.

During this season, he played 22 games, scoring 3 goals and delivering four assists (according to TransferMarkt).

Despite rumors of retirement, Colombia’s captain clarified that he intends to continue his career after the World Cup, though not in the MLS. The Cafetero expects to have offers from Europe after the tournament.
