Who will referee the USMNT's opening World Cup match against Paraguay?

The USMNT's World Cup debut will be on Friday, 12, at 9:00 p.m. ET at SoFi Stadium, LA.

With high expectations following two successful friendlies, the US soccer team’s fate in the group stage rests in its own hands, but first, it must overcome Albirroja, its toughest group rival.

Nevertheless, the officiating crew has been released, and its confirmation is as follows:

This isn’t the first occasion that Dutch referee Danny Makkelie has officiated a USMNT match. The last record of him being on the same field as the US soccer team was in the friendly match against Germany in 2015. The score on that game was 2-1 in favour of the US.

Still, Mauricio Pochettino has to focus on putting the best possible lineup and let the players do what they do best.
