Many believe soccer players to be overpaid individuals who do not care about match-going fans. However, this USMNT player has voiced his concerns over ticketing issues at the World Cup later this year.

Tim Weah, who has 47 caps for the USMNT, told The Athletic, "This World Cup will be good, but it will be more of a show. I am just a bit disappointed by the ticket prices. Lots of real fans will miss matches."

FIFA is using dynamic pricing for the tournament, which they used at the Club World Cup last year. This sees prices fluctuate from $60 for a group stage game to as much as $6,700 for the final. This is a lot of money, especially when you price in travel, accommodation, and other expenses that supporters would have to fork out.

Many supporters, especially those travelling from outside the United States, Canada, and Mexico, where the tournament will be hosted, have been priced out.

Can Tim Weah inspire the USMNT to World Cup success?

Weah's comments could help see a change in how major tournament ticket prices range in the future. However, his focus will be on what he can do on the field.

There was always going to be pressure on Weah, as he is the son of the former Ballon d'Or winner George Weah. Tim Weah even now plays for the same team his father did, Marseille.

This season, Weah, who is on loan from Juventus, has scored twice with two assists in 21 games for the Ligue 1 side. He has been used in a variety of positions, including on either wing, the right of midfield, and left and right full-back.

Weah's versatility makes him a great option for Mauricio Pochettino's USMNT roster at a major tournament. However, the player was not included in Pochettino's recent squad for fixtures against Paraguay and Uruguay.

The natural right-winger has had an up-and-down USMNT career. He scored against Wales in the USA's opening World Cup game in 2022. However, he was also shown a red card against Panama at the Copa America in 2024.

Following the Copa America, which was hosted in the United States, Gregg Berhalter was fired after the USMNT failed to get out of their group. This led to Pochettino's appointment.

However, results have been mixed under the former Tottenham Hotspur boss. USMNT fans will be hoping that the Stars and Stripes can at least put a run in the knockout stages together at the World Cup later this year.
