However, there is a hidden factor that made David Beckham and the Mas brothers decide to bring Kily, and that reason have the captain's badge and the recognition of being the GOAT.
It would be wrong to deny that the close relationship between Lionel Messi and the former head coach from Platense had something to do with it.

Let's start from the beginning. It's public knowledge that Kily González and Lionel Messi have a relationship that can be considered a friendship.
In fact, when Argentina won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, one of the people who welcomed Messi when he landed in Rosario, his hometown, was Inter Miami's new head coach.

Then, if it wasn't for his relationship with the GOAT, I can't find another reason why the Rosario-born coach ended up in Miami.
The truth is that there were better candidates, or at least coaches with stronger track records, for what Inter Miami needs during this difficult period.
Given all this, if Kily Gonzalez lacks the credentials of a competent manager for the Herons, there’s no justification for his trip to Miami, unless he’s just going for a vacation.
However, this isn’t the first time Inter Miami’s directors have brought in someone from Messi’s circle simply to keep him happy and committed to the team. This signing feels like another favor for the former FC Barcelona legend, just as it was with Javier Mascherano and Guillermo Hoyos.
Now, I’m not saying that Kily Gonzalez can’t turn things around and help the Herons, but the truth is that he is not qualified.
