According to our MLS Multiplex sources, St. Louis CITY has set its sights on John Kennedy, the young Fluminense striker. The American club has already reached out to the Brazilian team to inquire about the player’s situation and is considering making a formal offer in the coming days.

John Kennedy, once a true revelation a few seasons ago, is currently in a period of uncertainty. In 2024, his numbers have been disappointing: only three goals scored and performances below expectations. The once-promising player who wowed fans is now under scrutiny, with his future at Fluminense in question. Off-field issues and a lack of consistency in his performances have cast a shadow over the brilliance that once illuminated the young striker’s path.

John Kennedy’s journey with Fluminense has been marked by highs and lows. He was a key player in the campaign that led the club to win the Libertadores, but the magic seems to have faded quickly. Under the guidance of coach Mano Menezes, former coach of the Brazilian National Team, Fluminense has re-evaluated its offensive options, and unfortunately for Kennedy, he’s on the list of possible exits in this transfer window. This is not just a reflection of his recent performance but also of the opportunities that have arisen for both the club and the player.

In January, Fluminense turned down a tempting €15 million offer from Lyon, France. At that time, the management believed Kennedy still had a lot to offer. However, as the months passed and the striker’s performance declined, the club seems more open to negotiations. Besides Lyon, clubs from Russia, Turkey, and Mexico have also shown interest.

For Fluminense, this is a moment of crucial decisions. The management needs to evaluate whether it’s worth keeping a player who hasn’t delivered as expected or if it’s better to capitalize on foreign interest and reinvest the resources in new talents. Kennedy, on the other hand, faces a scenario of uncertainty. A move to a foreign club could be the chance to start over, to prove his worth in a new environment, away from the pressures and expectations surrounding him in Brazil.

From St. Louis CITY’s perspective, signing John Kennedy could be a masterstroke. The club needs players who can bring talent and visibility. Kennedy, despite his recent struggles, is still a young player with a lot of potential to be explored. In a new context, with a new team, he might find motivation.

Fluminense’s fans are divided. Many still believe in Kennedy’s potential. Others, more pragmatic, think it’s time to move on and make room for new talents.

St. Louis CITY is willing to invest and knows the competition is fierce. The possibility of an attractive offer, benefiting both the club and the player, is on the table. Kennedy might be about to embark on a new opportunity, and Fluminense could find in his departure the chance to renew its squad and its hopes.
