Fidel Barajas, a youngster of just 18, is on the verge of becoming Chivas Guadalajara's new star. The signing, which is expected to bring in more than US$4 million, marks a big sale for Real Salt Lake, who have been able to get the best out of the player.

Barajas began his career with the Charleston Battery and was named USL Championship Young Player of the Year and All-League Second Team in 2023. With 5 goals and 11 assists in 32 games, he was already showing that his talent went beyond the ordinary. Now he comes to Chivas with the mission of proving that he is worth every penny invested.

The sale of Barajas is a remarkable achievement for Real Salt Lake. Bought for just US$225,000, the player has risen in value to the point of reaching a million-dollar figure in just five months. That's right, the young prodigy has turned a modest investment into a fortune, and RSL have also secured a percentage of the transfer fee, meaning more future profits in sight.

Fidel is versatile and can play on both sides of the pitch, making him a valuable asset for any coach. European clubs have had their eye on him since last year, but it was Chivas who made the move. But, let's face it, it's not all flowers. The fans need to be patient. Fidel has potential, but he's still a youngster in the making. Pressing too hard could end up stifling the youngster's natural talent.

Barajas has already represented Mexico at the 2023 U-17 World Cup and also spent time with the US Junior National Team a year ago. This duality of international experience only adds to his profile. He had stints with the Sacramento Republic and San Jose Earthquakes academies before committing to Charleston in 2022.

The deal reflects a trend in the transfer market, where young talent is increasingly valued and fought over. By betting on Barajas, Chivas are showing that they are aware of new trends and are ready to invest in the future.
