Kylian Mbappé sparked controversy by claiming that the European Championship presents a higher tactical challenge compared to the World Cup. According to him, the familiarity among the participating teams makes the European competition more complicated from a strategic standpoint.

Lionel Messi didn't hesitate to vehemently disagree. For Messi, the greatness of the World Cup lies in its inclusion of all previous world champion teams, a fact he emphasizes as crucial to the tournament's superiority over the European Championship. In his view, the absence of South American powerhouses like Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina itself in the European Championship diminishes its prestige and comparative difficulty.

In the past, Mbappé stirred controversy by suggesting that South American soccer was not on par with European standards, a statement that certainly didn't escape Messi's attention. Messi, in turn, has always defended the quality and passion that South American countries inject into the World Cup.
