The decision to release Savarino, who amassed 35 goals and 33 assists in 125 games during his two stays at Real Salt Lake, should not be seen merely as a farewell but as a strategic move. The transfer grants RSL a second Designated Player slot, allowing the club to explore new signings and further strengthen its team to compete in the highly competitive MLS landscape.

Sporting director Kurt Schmid expressed gratitude for Savarino's years of service to the club, highlighting his contribution to the team's growth in recent years. The player's move to Botafogo signifies not only a geographical change but also an opportunity for Savarino to reinvent himself in his home country.

With flexibility in the roster, RSL now features players such as top scorer Cristian Arango, promising youngster Andrés Gómez from the Sub-22 Initiative, and the young international star from the United States, Diego Luna. This new lineup, coupled with the strategic vision of the coaching staff led by Pablo Mastroeni, promises to provide Real Salt Lake fans with a season full of excitement.
