D.C. United Bets Big on Boris Enow Signing
The addition of Cameroonian midfielder Boris Enow, straight from Maccabi Netanya FC, is a bold and necessary move for a team that’s been struggling to get back into the spotlight. Let’s face it, 2019 was the last time fans saw the team vying for the Audi MLS Cup Playoffs, and it’s been downhill ever since. But is Enow the missing piece in this puzzle?
At just 24 years old, Boris Enow arrives with a contract running until 2027, with an option to extend to 2028. If D.C. United’s management is betting this high, they must see tremendous potential in this young player. And rightly so. Enow has already made his mark at FC Porto and RC Lens before shining at Maccabi Netanya. The guy has 6 goals and 4 assists in 130 professional matches. It might not sound like much, but for a midfielder, that's more than enough to make a difference.

Ally Mackay, D.C. United’s general manager and head of soccer, is confident. He described Enow as a talented and hardworking player with sharp game insight. "He's entering the prime of his career and will be vital in strengthening our midfield," said Mackay.
But let’s be honest, D.C. United's situation isn’t great. The team is in 13th place in the Eastern Conference, and coach Troy Lesesne, in his first year at the helm, has a tough task ahead. As conference rivals keep advancing, D.C. United can no longer afford to lag behind.
He’s young, yes, but youth often comes with a hunger for victory that more seasoned players might have lost. And it’s precisely this hunger that could turn the tide for D.C. United.
Enow’s adaptation to MLS soccer will be crucial. The playing style is different, the pressure is relentless, and the fans won’t have the patience to wait long for results. The coach will need to be strategic, knowing when and how to use Enow to get the best out of his skills. Communication on the field will be essential. Enow needs to quickly gel with Peltola, Klich, and the rest of the team for his impact to be felt as soon as possible.
