The signing, announced last Friday, underscores Columbus Crew's ambitious strategy of investing in promising young talent. Hinestroza, known for his versatility and technical skills, promises to add depth to the squad, filling a crucial international slot. His ability to play various roles on the field, including posing a threat to opponents in one-on-one situations, makes him a valuable addition to Columbus Crew's playing style.
The young midfielder began his professional career in Colombia with Orsomarso SC in the 2018-19 season before joining CD América de Cali's U-20 team in the following season. A two-year stint with Palmeiras' U-20 team in the Brazilian CBF Brasileiro U-20 league solidified his international experience before shining at Pachuca.
Hinestroza's arrival follows the recent signings of midfielder/defender Derrick Jones and Guatemalan international goalkeeper Nicholas Hagen, both through free agency. This series of moves emphasizes Columbus Crew's determination to strengthen its roster as it prepares to face various competitions in 2024, including the Concacaf Champions Cup.
