A BIG reason for Inter Miami’s victory against CF Montreal was the GOAT. Lionel Messi scored a poker against the Canadian side (a poker is when a player scores four goals in the same match).
With this being said, not only did Messi help the Herons, but also achieve a major milestone - yes, another one - putting his legacy in MLS higher than ever.

For the person who missed this outstanding matchup, the Herons beat the Impact 7-1. The goals were scored by: Casemiro, Luis Suarez, Alexander Shaw, and the FOUR goals of the former FC Barcelona legend.

“With his four-goal performance in Inter Miami’s 7-1 win over CF Montréal, Lionel Messi became the fastest player in MLS history to reach 20 multi-goal games, accomplishing the feat in just 72 appearances. The Argentine also became the 19th player in league history to score four goals in a single regular-season match.”
For Inter Miami fans who were on the verge of getting so angry they wanted to smash everything near their TV, let me tell you this: the GOAT had enough of the criticism and showed up at exactly the right moment to lift a Herons team that had been playing at an abysmal level.
Currently, Inter Miami holds second place in the Eastern Conference, trailing a powerful Nashville SC that is pulling away from the rest of the competition.
What more can be said about the best player in MLS and the greatest player in the history of the sport?
Lionel Messi is the kind of player who, when he's going through a dip in form, is better left uncriticized, because otherwise, things like this happen: two free-kick goals and two more after brilliant individual plays, leaving one or two defenders in his wake.
One thing is clear: the former PSG offensive player is on track to win his third consecutive MLS MVP trophy. Also, if the GOAT continues at this level, the Herons could be on track to reach the MLS Cup final.
While their recent victory was impressive, there are still teams capable of challenging the Herons at any moment. One thing is certain, though: provoking Lionel Messi before a match is never a good idea.
