The World Cup is making history on US soil, not just because of the tournament, but also because of the MLS players. The Major League Soccer had 44 players on the international call-ups for this competition.

Tim Ream, representing the USMNT, has achieved numerous milestones throughout his career. This time, however, the focus isn’t solely on him as a player; it’s also a historic achievement for his club.

Yes, the club isn’t anything other than the Philadelphia Union, and his player lost on his World Cup debut.

Danley Jean Jacques makes Philadelphia Union World Cup history.

During the encounter between Haiti and Scotland, Danley Jean Jacques made the starting lineup as a midfielder.

His position isn’t important here; the crucial thing is that with his appearance in yesterday’s game against the European team, Danley Jean Jacques became the first active Philadelphia Union player to appear (and start) in a World Cup match.

Jean Jacques played 90 minutes in his team’s defeat. The 26-year-old midfielder had an inaccurate performance, but one that was important for his development at the international level.

However, Scotland's attacking firepower proved too much for anything the Union player could do. His encounter ended with 86% of passes in the attacking half, and an 76% of passes in its own half.

Realistically, Haiti faces an uphill battle to qualify for the next round. Still, the Philadelphia Union player must recognize that simply reaching the World Cup is a remarkable accomplishment. However, they should not be conformed, as they can still qualify for the Round of 16 as the best 3rd place.

Danley Jean Jacques next stop is Brazil for five days. A tough match, the Brazilian’s aren’t the same as they were a few years back.

Haiti could manage a tie, and with that, increase their hopes of making a great World Cup for the country.

However, in order to do that, Jacques has to arrive with his “A” game.
