The MLS is on a brief pause, but the news keeps arriving. Recently, it was revealed that Pep Guardiola turned down the opportunity to coach Inter Miami. Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic shared a candid and surprising perspective about MLS fans.

However, this time the news surrounds Austin FC and its management issues. Before the World Cup, the Greens fired Nico Estévez after his horrible start in the league.

Now, the club has officially announced the signing of a two-time MLS Sigi Schmid Coach of the Year and a respected manager across the league.

Austin FC announces Jim Curtin as future head coach following the 2026 Season.

Jim Curtin will become Ausint’s manager starting next year. Right now, the Greens will keep their interim manager, Davy Arnaud, for the remainder of the season. According to Austin FC’s official website, Curtin said:

“I am incredibly honored to be named the Head Coach of Austin FC. This is a moment I will never forget, and I’m grateful to Anthony Precourt, Andy Loughnane, and the Club’s ownership group for the trust placed in me.”

The two-time MLS Sigi Schmid Coach of the Year arrived at Texas after a long career with the Philadelphia Union. Curtin spent almost 10 years as head coach of the Union, where he has a record of 170 wins, 90 losses, and 134 draws.

During his time at Philadelphia, Curtin won the 2022 MLS Cup, the 2020 MLS Supporters' Shield, the 2022 Eastern Conference title, and qualified for the playoffs seven times.

Jim Curtin said that he received offers from other MLS teams and abroad, but the project and the city of Austin were enough to decide that the Greens were his next club.

“I had several other opportunities, both within MLS and abroad, but none of them excited me the way this project did. The city of Austin is unlike anywhere else, and the chance to compete for this community was too compelling to pass up.”

Still, with 141 regular-season victories, Curtin ranks ninth in MLS history for most coaching wins.

A crucial and perfect decision by Austin FC.
