Defense

Seth Sinovic

Easily the club’s best left-back of the decade, Seth Sinovic was a crucial part of the Sporting KC’s four trophies this decade. He was relentless in always getting his starting role back, making him the obvious pick as the club’s greatest left-back of the 2010s.

Matt Besler

The captain since 2014, Matt Besler is also Sporting KC’s player of the decade. The American international’s intelligent and impeccable style of play has led to his long-lasting success. First breaking into the starting XI in 2009, if Sporting had a game, it was very rare that Besler was not playing. And it was equally rare that he played poorly.

Aurelien Collin

Aurelien Collin beats out Ike Opara for this position. He was partnered with Besler during SKC’s strongest backline of the decade and his incredible run in the 2013 MLS Cup Playoffs led SKC to their second MLS Cup in history. Collin was also a great weapon from set pieces whipped into the box.

Graham Zusi

The short history of Graham Zusi at right-back beats out Chance Myers in the team of the decade because of a combination of Zusi’s success on the wings earlier in his Sporting years and his first two years of success at right-back in 2017 and 2018. He will be remembered as a great winger, but we have compromised him as SKC’s greatest right-back to make room for more talent up top.
