1. Closer to the playoffs

The meteoric rise of the Sounders has left the Western Conference stunned. Now only are they a few points out of first place in the conference, but the Sounders have done the unthinkable and are looking like contenders for the MLS Cup.

With seven other clubs in the running for the six playoff spots, however, the job is not done just yet. Yes, they are currently sitting in one of those playoff spots and have games in hand on some of their rivals, but the Sounders cannot rest on their laurels.

Nevertheless, there is no hotter team in MLS right now. Winning eight games in succession has never been done before in the post-shootout era. This is a truly historic season for Seattle.
