New York Red Bulls: One interesting thing to root for against the Galaxy
The New York Red Bulls head west to face the LA Galaxy. This is the first trip out west for New York. But there is something else to look out for.
Bradley Wright-Phillips has been wreaking havoc in Major League soccer since his arrival. Since the first time he put on the New York Red Bulls red he has been a poster boy player for the club.
So, it was recently brought to my attention that BWP has never scored a gaol against the LA Galaxy. Not that it really matters, but out of BWP’s 91 goals in the MLS, zero of them have been against LA’s original club.
This is not really that big of a deal. New York and LA rarely play each other and BWP does not really have to be elite against the West.

However, it would still be really impressive if the Galaxy finally concede to him. This match week would be helpful to do it too. The Red Bulls are coming off a rare home loss and need to start getting points as soon as possible. It would also be a great week to finally break through vs LA so that he can continue to keep up with Josef Martinez for most goals in the league.

The fact that BWP has never scored against the Galaxy is more interesting considering he has played over 300 minutes against them in his career. In four matches vs LA, the Galaxy remain one of few teams he has yet to score a goal against.
Something is bound to give in this match. And although BWP does need that stat of scoring at least one goal vs every MLS club, it would just be something nice to have for a player who deserves it.
If he fails to score against the Galaxy, he still has a chance to score against a team from LA this year. The Red Bulls do have LAFC on their schedule later in the season.
