Defenders

Kortne Ford – Ford has the least amount of professional experience on this list. The 21-year-old is still in the single digits in career appearances for the Colorado Rapids but has all the physical tools. He’s six-foot-two and even showed off some goal scoring ability, getting the game winner against Sporting Kansas City recently.

Aaron Long – Some in New York have compared him to Matt Miazga and looking at his stature it’s easy to see why. After failing to break through at Portland and Seattle, New York took a chance on him and it’s paid off so far.

Ike Opara – One of the most unsung players in MLS this year, Opara has been a rock for Sporting Kansas City’s league leading defense. He nearly retired after several lengthy rehab stints, but now in 2017 he is healthy and consistently shutting down the top players in MLS.

Tim Parker – Another player who has been to a senior camp, but has yet to get his first cap. Parker has seemed to be in the U.S. plans for a while now. He has been a consistent defender who doesn’t get into trouble. In 56 career MLS appearances, he only has committed 38 fouls and has just five yellow cards.
