MLS Injury Update: Eastern Conference
Columbus Crew SC
There are no new casualties for the Columbus Crew. Left-back Waylon Francis is still a questionable inclusion for their home game against Portland despite being ‘cleared to play’ a while back.
Doubtful: Waylon Francis (surgery on right shoulder)
Out: Gaston Sauro (knee injury, 2018 return), Dilly Duka (calf contusion).
New England Revolution
Zachary Herivaux is a doubt for the game against Minnesota United, while Brad Knighton is expected to miss out for the second week running.
Doubtful: Brad Knighton (concussion)
Out: Zachary Herivaux (right ankle sprain)
New York Red Bulls
Gideon Baah‘s troubles with a broken leg he sustained in July 2016 continues after he was recently included on the season-ending injury list by New York Red Bulls. The 25-year-old defender joins Gonzalo Veron and Connor Lade on the sidelines.
Out: Gideon Baah (broken leg, 2018 return), Gonzalo Veron (hamstring injury), Connor Lade (ACL tear)
MLS Injury Update: Western Conference
Minnesota United
Goalkeeper Patrick McLain and defender Joseph Greenspan have been ruled out of Minnesota United’s away game at New England Revolution with concussions. These recent injuries increase the expansion side’s injury list to four players and also leaves them without two of their top three keepers.
Out: Patrick McLain (concussion), Joseph Greenspan (concussion), John Alvbage (knee laceration), Bernardo Anor (hamstring injury)
Portland Timbers
Portland’s first choice left-back Vytas has almost fully recovered from his calf strain and could start the game against Columbus Crew despite being listed as ‘questionable’. There are no other new injury concerns for the Western Conference side.
Doubtful: Vytautas Andriuškevičius (calf strain)
Out: Liam Ridgewell (foot injury, April return), Gbenga Arokoyo (Achilles tendon tear, 2018 return)
Real Salt Lake
Ecuadorian striker Joao Plata and midfielder Jordan Allen were both forced to sit out of Real Salt Lake’s 2-1 home loss to LA Galaxy and are expected to miss Real Salt Lake’s visit to the New York Red Bulls. They could be joined by David Horst, Aaron Maund, and Justen Glad, who are all doubts for the match.
