Montreal Impact fans can at least be happy for this one reason: ice hockey season is around the corner. Other than that, there isn’t much to be cheerful about with Frank Klopas’s Impact facing Bruce Arena’s red-hot Los Angeles Galaxy at Stade Saputo in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The Galaxy are coming off a 6-0 rout of the Colorado Rapids, while L’Impact gave up a second half rally on the road to the Houston Dynamo in their 3-2 defeat.
Even worse for Montreal, Los Angeles got the job done without Robbie Keane, and with Keane back in the lineup for this match, there is only one words in Quebecois Joual that can sum up the outlook for L’Impact and its supporters: “Tabarnak!” Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. PT/7:30 p.m. ET and will be televised by MLS LIVE. Here are 10 Bold Predictions for Wednesday night’s match in La Belle Province between the Montreal Impact and Los Angeles Galaxy.
1. At least 40 fouls, under four cards
This is going to be a fast a fluid match between two teams on opposite ends of the spectrum. Los Angeles have the second best record in the league while Montreal have the worst. Opposites attract, and this will get somewhat chippy. So, the MLS Multiplex is boldly predicting for at least 40 fouls whistled and under four cards issued.
2. At least five saves from Brian Rowe
Galaxy backup goalkeeper Brian Rowe should get the start on Wednesday after a solid shift against the Colorado Rapids on Friday night, making five saves. We think he’s going to do it again and prove that at the goalkeeper position, the Galaxy possess continuity. The Plex calls for at least five saves from Rowe.
3. Under five saves from Evan Bush
This is going to be a test for Montreal goalkeeper Evan Bush, who made three saves in Montreal’s 3-2 defeat to Houston. We think he’s going to struggle to come up with a hefty number of stops for another match. The MLS Multiplex is calling for under five saves from Bush.
4. Ignacio Piatti continues his hotstreak
The new guy for the Montreal Impact, Ignacio Piatti, has been on fire this year since joining the club, with three goals to his name. Piatti is going to be the bright spot for Montreal on Wednesday and he will score in the first half.
5. Robbie Keane will score
Robbie Keane has been a reliable scoring threat for the Los Angeles Galaxy, with 14 goals to his credit. As he returns to the lineup following international duty, Keano will score on his return to the Galaxy and prove once again why he is among the top players in Major League Soccer.
6. Gyasi Zardes with a brace

Here is one of Major League Soccer‘s rising stars that will be on showcase against Montreal. This year, Los Angeles Galaxy forward Gyasi Zardes proved that yes, his skill will blow all of our minds, with 14 goals to his credit, the most by any MLS Homegrown Player in a single season. Do not be surprised if Zardes earns his first cap for the USA Men’s National Team and becomes a fixture for the Nats over the next several years. Zardes will score a brace on Wednesday.
7. A goal and two assists for Landon Donovan
The greatest American soccer player in the history of soccer, Landon Donovan, is getting it done in his final year playing the game. Against Montreal, the MLS Multiplex is calling for a goal and two assists for Donovan against L’Impact.
8. Baggio Husidic with a goal and an assist
A good team is able to pass the ball around well and finish accordingly. Friday night against Colorado was the coming-out party for Baggio Husidic, who scored his first brace of the season, and also as a member of the Galaxy. Husidic will score at least a goal and an assist against Montreal.
9. Alan Gordon with an assist
Alan Gordon is not going to score that often this year, but as long as he can help string up a good sequence and be a provider, this Galaxy target forward will get the job done nonetheless. We here at the MLS Multiplex call for Gordon to get at least an assist in the second half against the Impact.
10. Just another win for the Los Angeles Galaxy
This is going to be a muscle-flexing victory for the Los Angeles Galaxy, even though it won’t be the 6-0 shellacking that Colorado received because the Impact have a legit finisher in Piatti. Still, the Galaxy are letting the Seattle Sounders know, “Hey, we got your Shield and if you want this bad boy, you’re gonna have to go through us. #MolonLabe” The Plex calls for a rout.
Los Angeles Galaxy 5, Montreal Impact 1
