A new MLS Matchday is an hour away. Tomorrow, we have El Clásico between LAFC and LA Galaxy. Nevertheless, that’s a discussion for another time. Now, we are focusing our minds on the Philadelphia Union vs. the New England Revolution game.

In a turn of events rarely seen, the Union has managed to recover from what seemed like a disastrous season. A few months ago, they were sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, and today they are in sixth place, putting up a fight against any opponent they face, regardless of the names on the other side.

It’s also crucial to recognize the impact of Cavan Sullivan, one of the United States’ brightest prospects, in the Union’s resurgence. His performances have been instrumental in this turnaround, making it all the more intriguing to see if the young star will feature in tonight’s match.

Why is Cavan Sullivan not playing tonight for the Philadelphia Union against the New England Revolution?

Unfortunately, we've got some bad news, guys. Now, Cavan Sullivan will not feature in tonight's match due to an ankle injury he suffered last Saturday against Charlotte FC. As a result, the Union, who have been enjoying a strong run of form, will have to find a way to secure a positive result without their young star.

This is a tough blow for the Union, as their attack has been far more dynamic when Sullivan takes on defenders one-on-one and creates scoring opportunities.

This season, Sullivan has featured in 33 matches, tallying ten goals and eleven assists. While those statistics may not seem extraordinary at first glance, they are remarkable for a 17-year-old.

With such promise, Sullivan could easily become the face of MLS in the post-Messi era, provided he doesn’t make a move to Manchester City first. So yes, Cavan Sullivan won’t be attending tonight’s game from inside the field
