On Saturday, the United States Women’s National Team opened up their two-game window with a 3-0 win against China. The Stars and Stripes dominated the game, allowing them to properly rebound from the previous loss against Brazil back in April. Next, the team will face Jamaica. Here is some information about the fixture.

The USWNT projected lineup

Emma Hayes was expected to experiment with her Starting XIs.  In the China match, she went with many familiar faces but is clearly continuing to try out different combinations.

That is why it is expected that the lineup against Jamaica will look very different compared to the one from the weekend.  She might keep a few players, like Lindsey Heaps or Emily Sonnett, in the Starting XI.  Still, there should be multiple changes.

It would be crazy for Hayes to have someone other than Catarina Macario start as the striker, though.  The growing star for the USWNT has scored in two of her last three matches with the national team.  As such, Macario should remain in the lineup to see whether she can consistently perform at a high level with the USWNT. Plus, if she is scoring, then why remove her from the lineup?

In addition, Phallon Tullis-Joyce started in Saturday’s friendly. For many, the goalkeeper competition is still up in the air, so a different goalkeeper should start against Jamaica. But, if Tullis-Joyce does start again, and she starts again when the next international window begins at the end of June, then perhaps the Manchester United player can be deemed the new No. 1 for the USWNT.

USWNT vs Jamaica prediction

Last time, it was thought that the USWNT would not play their best game.  However, the team had a great performance and dominated the game against China.  So, regardless of the players chosen, the Stars and Stripes should play extremely well against Jamaica.

Similar to China, they will dominate offensively and control the pace of play. Jamaica will have some chances and might secure a goal.  This match will still be all about the USWNT. Fans should expect an early goal, and maybe an unlikely scorer will find the back of the net.

Prediction: USWNT 4, Jamaica 1
