But who is Taylor Huff, and why is her arrival at Bay FC drawing so much attention?
A résumé that stands out
Taylor Huff isn't some college player leaping to pros. Her credentials speak for themselves. Coming from Florida State University, she has already made a name for herself as an exceptional athlete, not only in numbers but also in performance. In 79 college games for Tennessee and Florida State, Huff scored 32 goals and registered 28 assists, including an undefeated national championship with the Seminoles in 2023.
Her influence goes well beyond the stats. Huff can take over midfield, balancing attack and defense with a maturity level well beyond her years. This hasn't gone unnoticed by Bay FC head coach Albertin Montoya, who describes Huff as a dynamic player who can take over a game on both sides of the ball.
Leadership on and off the field
But what really sets Huff apart is not just her technical ability, but also her competitiveness and natural leadership. The attacking midfielder brought much more than goals and assists to Florida State; she became a role model for other players, and that is the type of profile Montoya looks for at Bay FC.
That was the leadership that helped win the 2023 national title, and it's not hard to envision Huff bringing that same profile to Bay FC. She brings an infusion of energy and optimism, particularly for a club looking to grow its footing in the competitive world of women's soccer.
Natural evolution of a star
Since her youth days, Huff has shown she was destined for big things. Born in Mansfield, Ohio, she was named the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Year in 2020 and earned All-American honors during all four years of her high school career.
The perfect fit for Bay FC?
Bay FC's decision to bet on Huff is a strategic one: a new club needs to build its identity, and players like her are important in that process. It's a signing that reflects a long-term vision, one in which the club wants to establish itself as a powerhouse in the league and a destination of choice for emerging talent.
