Washington Spirit negotiating the signing of defender Esme Morgan

Washington Spirit is set to strengthen its defense with the signing of young defender Esme Morgan, according to BBC Sports journalist Emma Sanders. The English player had a contract with Manchester City until 2025, but reached an agreement with the club and is awaiting the finalization of the paperwork.

At 23 years old, Morgan has won two titles with the Citizens: the Women's FA Cup and the League Cup, and has been recognized by England coach Sarina Wiegman. Seeking higher challenges, the athlete is preparing for her first international experience by joining the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL). She is versatile, able to play both as a center-back and as a right-back.
