Anticipation is in the air. The Kansas City Current, undefeated and dominating the NWSL, are preparing to face the Houston Dash at CPKC Stadium. The mission for the Dash couldn't be more challenging: break the Current's 14-game unbeaten streak and prevent them from setting a new league record. Kansas City's confidence is at an all-time high, especially after a resounding win against the Portland Thorns. Meanwhile, the Dash, despite having a solid defense, haven't managed to score in three games.

It's a real David versus Goliath duel, with the Dash trying to find some attacking magic to complement the defensive robustness of Jane Campbell, who has been a wall, but now faces the biggest test of her season. With six matches without conceding a goal, she is the Dash's fortress.

On the other hand, Kansas City striker Temwa Chawinga is just one goal behind league leaders Sophia Smith and Barbra Banda. Her ability to turn chances into goals is uncanny, and the Dash defense will need to be in top form to keep her in check. Chawinga has been Current's offensive backbone, leading the way with nine goals and six assists.

But it's not just Kansas City's attack that makes the difference. The presence of LaBonta, captain and midfielder, is a spectacle in itself. Known as the 'Queen Celly' of the NWSL, she not only holds the club's penalty record, but is also Current's all-time leading scorer in the regular season. Her ability to control the midfield and contribute offensively is key to Current's relentless style of play.

The last meeting between these two teams ended in a draw, with both teams scoring in the second half. However, adverse weather conditions and a four-hour rain delay marred that game. This time, at home, Kansas City will be hoping to leave no doubt about their superiority.

But the Dash cannot be underestimated. Campbell's ability to make spectacular saves and the team's defensive solidity could be the foundation for a possible comeback. They will have to find a way around Current's attacking pressure and convert the few chances that come their way.

With Kansas City expecting nothing less than a win, the stage is set for an epic clash. The Dash have the chance to make history by halting Current's unbeaten run, but it will take a monumental effort.
