Christen Press, one of the most talented and widely recognized players in women's soccer, is set to make her long-awaited return to the field. Press, who suffered a ruptured ACL in June 2022, has undergone four surgeries during her recovery. Now, she is in the final phase of her rehabilitation and has returned to training with Angel City.

This return marks a significant moment for Angel City, a team that has struggled this season. Press, a two-time World Cup winner with the U.S. Women's National Team, signed with Angel City in 2022, becoming the first player to sign with the expansion team. Her three-season contract, valued at $700,000, made her one of the highest-paid players in the NWSL.

Despite having played only eight matches before her injury, Press's presence on the team is undeniable. She is a dynamic player. Known for her versatility, she can play both as a central forward (number 9) and as a winger (number 11). Her ability to read the game and position herself correctly is crucial to Angel City's offensive success.

Currently, Angel City is in 12th place in the NWSL, with just 11 points and one of the worst offensive performances in the league. The team has not won in four games, and Press's return could be the spark of hope needed to turn things around.

Of course, everything is a process. Press has been out for a long time, but her return to training is encouraging. Her determination to overcome such a serious injury and return to play is an example of resilience and dedication.

It will still take time before the forward is in any playing condition, but she will know how to benefit from her experience and skill to contribute to the team and NWSL.
