It is quite remarkable seeing players at either end of the age spectrum turn heads in the world of soccer. Whether they're spring chickens bursting onto the scene or veterans showing that experience beats all, Philadelphia Union has seen its fair share of both in their MLS history.
Last night, the Union made history in their 5-1 stomping over New England Revolution. Not only did Philly hammer their opponents on home soil, but they also introduced a twinkle-toes with the world at his feet to the MLS, in the name of Cavan Sullivan.
Of course, fans of Philadelphia Union are already blissfully aware of Cavan's older brother Quinn Sullivan, who made the score-sheet with an impressive long-range effort against the Revolution. However, it was the younger brother Cavan who made history.

Making an appearance from the bench, Cavan Sullivan became the youngest player in MLS history. Ageing at 14 years and 293 days old, Sullivan took the award away from the former holder Freddy Adu, who was also a player for Philly Union after setting the record. Now, though, the record belongs to Philly.
However, Philadelphia fans are not under the false impression that Sullivan will remain with the roster for the long-term. In fact, they very much anticipate that Sullivan will complete the expectation to sign for Man City when he turns 18.
Indeed, as reported by English outlet the BBC, there is an agreement in place for Man City to sign Cavan Sullivan when he turns 18. Speaking about the deal to join Man City later on down the line, Sullivan said:
"Just the name Man City pops out to almost every kid, and they're the most fun team to watch in the world right now. I look up to and use players like Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden, to try and play like them."
To hear Cavan Sullivan using Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva as inspiration should be enough to excite any Man City fan. After all, those two players have proven to be excellent attacking midfield additions, particularly under the mentorship of Pep Guardiola.
Certainly, Cavan Sullivan has the ceiling to reach of those players. To be handed his professional debut at 14 years old shows the world everything they need to know about this kid - He's special, and he's coming to dominate the landscape of soccer. Keep your eyes peeled, as he's essentially told Man City 'when the time is right, come get me.'
