NJ/NY Gotham FC have good memories after the international break, with an unbeaten run of six games, a run we haven't seen since the 2021 regular season, when they went eight games without a loss. This performance puts the team in fifth place in the league with 18 points, a position that reflects the consistency and quality of the soccer on show.

The team is set to return to action this Saturday, June 8, against Angel City at Red Bull Arena, with Ella Stevens leading as the season's top scorer. Stevens has netted four goals in the last three games, including the two fastest goals of the season so far. Despite their mid-table position, Gotham FC needs to tighten up their defense, as they have kept only four clean sheets. However, they have conceded the fewest goals in the competition, with just seven. To progress throughout the season, the team also needs to enhance their offensive power, having averaged only one goal per match.

The team boasts strong players in the defensive system, such as Jenna Nighswonger. The left-back leads the team in tackles and interceptions, demonstrating her importance both defensively and offensively, with the stamina to cover the entire field.

Currently, Gotham FC needs to find the balance between attack and defense to compete at a higher level. With the international break, the team had the chance to recharge and fine-tune details to continue their upward trajectory in the NWSL. If they find the ideal balance, they can aim for even higher positions on the table. The first step towards this goal will be in their upcoming home game against Angel City, as they seek their seventh consecutive unbeaten match.
