The Houston Dash once again showed their strength by winning a convincing 2-0 victory over Pachuca CF in the group stage of the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup. With a brilliant performance from Andressa and Diana Ordóñez, the team secured their second win in a row, closing out the group stage with a 2-1-1 record. This victory not only boosted the team's morale, but also showed that the Dash are more than prepared to face any challenge that comes their way.

From the start, it was clear that the Houston Dash were determined to dominate the game. In the 18th minute, Amanda West delivered a perfect cross that found Andressa at the far post. The Brazilian didn't waste the chance and scored her first goal of the tournament, a true masterpiece of technique and precision. This was Andressa's first goal since October 2023, when she scored against Angel City FC, and it showed that she still has a lot to offer.

Amanda West's performance was another highlight. The newcomer, in her first start in the competition, not only provided the assist for Andressa's goal, but also showed impressive maturity on the pitch. Her ability to create plays and put pressure on the opposing defense was crucial to the Dash's success.

In the second half, the Houston Dash continued their pressure and in the 61st minute, following a corner taken by Andressa, Diana Ordóñez scored her second goal of the tournament. Ordóñez, who leads the team with six goals in all competitions, showed once again why she is one of the most promising players in the league. Her ability to finish off plays and her leadership on the pitch, wearing the captain's armband for the first time, were key to the team's victory.

The Dash defense also deserves praise. Goalkeeper Heather Hinz, on her professional debut, made six saves and ensured her first game without conceding a goal. Her performance was essential in keeping Pachuca away from goal and gave the team the security to push forward in attack.

Even with a few missed opportunities, such as Ordóñez's saved penalty in the 42nd minute and Avery Patterson's shot against the crossbar, the Dash showed resilience and determination. These flaws didn't take the shine off the victory, but they served as a reminder that there is always room for improvement.

Diana Ordóñez, emotional after the game, spoke about the importance of scoring goals and the honor of being captain. "Scoring is always good. In our team, goals have been few and far between. I think we're getting to the point where we're starting to create a lot more chances, and that's good. We just need to score more. Wearing the captain's armband was a prayer answered, something I've wanted to do since I've been in the league. To wear it at home with a team like this is a great honor."

Dash assistant coach Ricky Clarke commented on the team's performance and the importance of player rotation: "Maybe we got a bit sloppy in the second half, but overall we were very impressed with the ability to rotate players. We created a lot of chances, but the scoreline wasn't a reflection of the amount of quality chances we created. Tonight, we found a lot of time and space, which is a bit unusual for us. So, as a team, that helped us grow."
