NJ/NY Gotham FC and Angel City faced off in an East Coast vs. West Coast showdown. The winner: Gotham FC, with a 2-1 victory at Red Bull Arena. With this result, the team extended its unbeaten streak to seven matches and secured the fourth playoff spot in the NWSL.

In an intense game, Gotham FC started more aggressively, attacking and creating the best opportunities. They nearly opened the scoring in the 11th minute with Nighswonger, whose shot just missed the post. The goal finally came 15 minutes later. Dunn received a good cross-field pass from Yazmeen Ryan, took on the defender, and hit the bottom right corner past Haracic. Angel City responded and pushed for a result, but Ann-Katrin Berger made crucial saves.

After persistent efforts, the visitors were rewarded shortly after the break. Clarisse Le Bihan aimed for a cross from the right wing. The ball bypassed everyone, bounced in front of the goalkeeper, and found its way into the net for the equalizer. However, this didn't last long. In the 61st minute, Rose Lavelle recovered a lost ball inside the box and fired a left-footed shot past Haracic.

Gotham FC could have finished the match without conceding a goal. They led at halftime for the eighth time this season but allowed the equalizer due to a defensive lapse. The team briefly lost momentum, allowing the opposition to grow and score. However, they regained their drive and secured the win.

This performance reflects the players' efforts, as seen by coach Juan Carlos Amorós: "The players give their all from the first to the last minute. They are super disciplined tactically. I think everyone can feel the freedom they have with the ball," Amorós noted.

Gotham FC aims to extend their positive run against Racing Louisville next Saturday, June 15. The team's determination to continue their success is something that has permeated the squad, as highlighted by Mandy Freeman: "For us, success means showing up in every game and performing well, not just for a single match. We want to show up and compete every day, win, and hopefully win every game. We just want to maintain this momentum and keep building. It's a long season, a long year, and we want to keep this momentum going because the most important games will happen at the end of the season," said the defender.
