Saturday night promises to be electrifying at Lower.com Field, where the Columbus Crew are set to face a New York City FC side that has been erratic, to say the least. If, on the one hand, the Crew go into the game on the back of a winning streak that defies all logic, on the other, NYCFC seem to be going through a rollercoaster of emotions and results in the Leagues Cup. And here, my friends, only the strongest will survive.

It's not every day that you see a team like Columbus Crew turn a game around against none other than Inter Miami CF. But that's exactly what happened on Tuesday. In a match that looked lost, the Crew rose from the ashes like a phoenix, destroyed their opponents and now, with confidence high, are going all out against NYCFC. The 4-0 win over Sporting Kansas City in the previous round had already shown that the Crew are not to be trifled with in this competition. Now, against NYCFC, history could repeat itself, but will it?

Diego Rossi is the name on everyone's lips. With four goals in his last two games, the Uruguayan is playing soccer from another planet. It seems that every time he touches the ball, something magical happens. Rossi is undoubtedly the soul of this team, pulling the strings in attack and making the opposition defenders panic. If there's one player capable of making the difference in this match, it's him.

But let's not kid ourselves. New York City FC may be a patchy side, but they do have their weapons. Santiago Rodriguez, another Uruguayan who has been making noise in the MLS, is the guy to keep an eye on. With eight goals and eight assists in the league, he is the heart of the New York team. If the Crew slip up, Rodriguez could turn what looked like a certain victory into a nightmare. And let's not forget that NYCFC have already knocked a Mexican giant, Tigres UANL, out of the competition. If they can do that, they could well spring a surprise in Columbus.

But the Columbus Crew's greatest asset is at home. Lower.com Field has been a fortress, and the Crew know how to use that to their advantage. At home, with their fans cheering them on, the Crew are transformed. Coach Wilfried Nancy has put together a scheme that works like a well-oiled machine. Each piece knows its place, each player knows what they have to do. And when the team is at its best, as we saw against Inter Miami, it's practically unstoppable.

NYCFC, on the other hand, have a shaky record away from home. It's as if they leave some of their soccer on the plane when they leave New York. That inconsistency is what could cost them dearly on Saturday. However, if they can hold off the Crew's early momentum and put pressure on their opponents' defense, who knows what could happen?

At the end of the day, what we have is a game where the Columbus Crew are the favorites, but can't relax.Underestimating NYCFC would be a fatal mistake.Soccer loves to play tricks on those who think they've already won. The Crew have one hand on the semi-finals, but NYCFC are determined to take it back. It's a clash of titans, where every detail, every play, every mistake could decide the fate of the teams.
