Since the age of 15, Aline has been showing what she's made of, playing with verve and talent in Brazil's Serie A1 for Ferroviária. With 31 appearances and 10 goals for the club, she quickly stood out as one of the brightest prospects in women's soccer. In 2023, Aline had her most productive season, scoring nine goals in 13 games. This young woman from Tabatinga, in the interior of São Paulo, has been collecting awards and recognition, being voted the revelation of the 2022 Brazilian Championship and being part of Brazil's youth teams.
Aline's transfer to the North Carolina Courage involved a fee of R$1.08 million, equivalent to US$190,566.04 at the current exchange rate, the second largest transaction in the history of Brazilian women's soccer. Courage coach Sean Nahas can't hide his excitement at the player's arrival. According to him, Aline's speed and dribbling ability are qualities that make her a dynamic addition to the team.
“It's another great day at Courage Country as we welcome Aline to our club. Her pace and dribbling quality make her extremely dynamic and she fits our style very well. She is widely regarded as one of the best young players in the world and has already gained experience with Brazil's first team at such a young age. We are delighted that she has entrusted us with the next steps in her journey and development. We can't wait to have her playing with us,” said the coach.
Aline couldn't be happier with this new phase in her career. In her own words, she is living a professional dream by playing in one of the best leagues in the world and for a team that is competing for titles. Aline is determined to do her best and win many trophies with Courage. Her arrival is scheduled for August 1st, when the secondary transfer window opens. She will need a P-1 visa to take part in the team's activities, but everything indicates that this young star is more than ready to take on this new challenge.
Aline's journey so far is a story of determination and talent. Since arriving at Ferroviária, she has progressed through the youth ranks, from U16 to professional. She has made 91 appearances in the Grená shirt, scoring 15 goals and providing five assists. Her skill and determination led to her being called up by coach Pia Sundhage to the Brazil senior team, where she has already been included in the squad for the 2023 Women's World Cup.
The deal that brought Aline to Courage is a clear sign of the value and potential that women's soccer is gaining every day. Ferroviária, who retained 25% of the player's economic rights, now have priority in the negotiation should Aline decide to return to Brazil. This type of agreement is crucial for the development and appreciation of women's soccer, showing that players also have their space and recognition in the international market.
North Carolina Courage fans have every reason to be excited about Aline's arrival. She brings with her not only talent, but a youthful energy and a will to win that could be the difference the team needs to shine even brighter in the NWSL. Aline's presence on the pitch promises to stir up matches with her dribbling ability, speed and nose for goal.
