We're in the middle of the Leagues Cup, but MLS teams remain more focused on the transfer market than ever. In this case, the LA Galaxy wasted no time, making two signings that have generated plenty of buzz.
I know this is already official, but every sports media page discussed only the numbers of the deal; they don't truly develop whether this was a good or bad move, or whether the Galaxy really needed both players.
Without further ado, the two players are Hirving Lozano, a former San Diego FC player, and Sergi Roberto, a former FC Barcelona legend and captain.

While the Galaxy are still working to regain their top form, it's important to recognize the substantial progress they've made since last season, when they finished at the bottom of the Western Conference. Their continued improvement signals a positive direction for the club.
Hirving Lozano joined LA Galaxy on loan with a purchase option, which makes this a smart move for the club. If Lozano doesn't perform well on the field, the Galaxy have the flexibility to bench him and let him return to San Diego without any financial obligation.
This approach reduces the risk for the team while still allowing them to benefit if Lozano excels. The truth is: everyone knows the former PSV forward’s form has decreased considerably.
He’s no longer the dominant player he once was; at this point, Lozano could be considered a solid MLS contributor who might boost the offense but is unlikely to produce the spectacular moments of his early career.
For reasons unknown, his skills and confidence seem to have faded significantly from one season to the next. The only positive side about this signing is that it is a loan, because if the Galaxy spend money on the current form of Lozano, it is a waste of money.
I’m sorry to be that guy, but it’s true. He has a chance to prove me wrong, but for what I’ve seen, that won't happen.
Sergi Roberto
Now, this is a marvelous signing by the LA Galaxy. Since Riqui Puig’s injury, the club has been struggling to fill that void left by the Spanish midfielder. However, the perfect solution was another FC Barcelona prospect like Sergi Roberto.
A solid player who will do the right things and will definitely boost the squad. Wherever he played, Roberto was always correct, even in his last two seasons with Como, before joining LA.
Everyone remembers him for his goal against PSG in that magnificent 6-1 Champions League comeback, but Sergi Roberto is a player who keeps things simple and is considered very versatile. He can play at right back, as a central midfielder, or as a right midfielder.
His experience playing as a center back on several occasions demonstrates his versatility, making him an ideal signing for the Galaxy as he can address multiple current needs within the squad.
Conclusion
The overall grade for these signings could be a B+ or even an A, largely due to the addition of Sergi Roberto and the advantageous loan deal for Hirving Lozano.
However, the team didn’t really need Lozano, but they definitely needed Sergi Roberto, who can cover many of the Galaxy’s flaws.
