A few days ago, we discussed the horrible moment Inter Miami was having in the MLS. Now, after a 7-1 victory over CF Montreal, the Herons have reversed their situation for next weekend's matchup.
However, today we have to talk about a strange decision by Miami that doesn’t make any sense, no matter how you look at it.
In the past few hours, Tom Boger, an MLS insider, reported that Noah Allen and David Ruiz would be leaving the club on the final day of the transfer window.
Ruiz's decision makes sense, but Allen’s case is the other way around.
Inter Miami just made a horrible decision with one of their youngsters.
To start, let's talk about David Ruiz, who is joining the New York Red Bulls on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy. Per the official statement of NYRB:
“Red Bull New York have acquired Honduran international David Ruiz on loan from Inter Miami CF, the club announced today. Ruiz will be on loan through the end of the 2026 MLS season, and New York will have an option to buy at the conclusion of the loan. The Red Bulls will send $75,000 in 2027 General Allocation Money (GAM) to Inter Miami CF.”
Why does this make sense? The truth is that David Ruiz is not a bad player. Whenever he has been on the field, he has shown some interesting qualities, but his constant injuries have become a liability that Miami can no longer afford to carry.
On top of that, with Casemiro's arrival, the young Honduran has lost ground and likely wouldn't get enough minutes to develop his game the way either the player or the club would want. So this move, on LOAN (really important), makes sense, so the midfielder has playing time.

No MLS fan can make sense of this situation; not just Inter Miami supporters, but anyone who understands Allen’s contributions to the Herons is baffled by the decision.
According to the journalist, the Greek left-back is minutes away from joining the Chicago Fire on loan, with a purchase option for $3m. The strange part is that, at one point, there was talk of sending Allen to Europe in a move that would benefit the player, but Inter Miami did the exact opposite.
The Herons transferred him to a direct competitor, something that, if you apply common sense, simply doesn't happen, because you don't strengthen a rival with one of your most reliable players.
Noah Allen has played as a center-back or left-back and has done a solid job filling the gap left by Jordi Alba.
As one of the Herons’ top defenders and the only natural backup for Sergio Reguilón, Allen’s departure suggests Miami would rather spend money than retain a reliable player, despite their well-known defensive problems.
To finish this article, one can’t understand why they are selling their most consistent left-back at the club and a player who has done a solid job when put at center-back.
