Bournemouth, Tyler Adams in discussions
By Anthony Rotz
The Tyler Adams saga takes its next turn.
Fresh off being spurned by Chelsea, Tyler Adams is once again on the verge of a Premier League return.
Bournemouth has activated the midfielder’s $25m release clause and negotiations are underway to bring Adams to the southwest of England per Fabrizio Romano.
Adams, 24, was close to sealing a move to Chelsea before the Blues backed out last minute. After putting him through a medical and agreeing terms, Chelsea decided to focus their attention on the $205m duo, Moisés Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. With Chelsea, Adams would have been a depth piece, but with Bournemouth, he is set for a featured role.
Much like last season, Adams could find himself in a relegation battle as the Cherries navigate their second season back in the Premier League.
Unable to save Leeds from the drop last season, Adams will look to contribute far more to survival for a Bournemouth side tipped by many for relegation.
Adams made 26 appearances for Leeds United last season before suffering a hamstring injury that has sidelined the USMNT captain ever since. When healthy, Adams was a pivotal piece of Jesse Marsch’s side. With him nearing a return from injury, he should prove his worth once again under Andoni Iraola.
That is, if they don’t leave him at the altar.
