Another Saturday is behind us. Which means Matchday 4 is in the books. Which three take home medals for their weekend performance?

🥉GK Roman Bürki (STL)

St. Louis FC continued their dominant start to life in MLS with a 4-0 thrashing of Real Salt Lake. Almost everyone deployed by Coach Bradley Carnell has excelled, and yesterday was the captain’s turn for some recognition.

Despite the lopsided score, most of the game was not entirely on St. Louis’ terms. Notably, the former Borussia Dortmund man made the play of the game just before halftime, when Bürki saved Bryan Vera’s shot from point-blank range to keep the game scoreless.

In total, the Swiss keeper made eight saves, including three from inside the box to secure back-to-back clean sheets for the MLS newcomers.

🥈FW Léo Chú (SEA)

Chú had not only his best game as a Sounder but arguably the best game of his career. The 22-year-old surpassed his career assist total with the Sounders by assisting Jordan Morris on all four of his goals.

A constant threat in the side of a dispirited Sporting KC, the Brazilian incisively cut them open with passing from the left flank, proving especially lethal in transition. In the 59th minute, Chú almost scored himself with a bending shot from just outside the penalty area.

🥇FW Jordan Morris (SEA)

Could it be anyone else? Morris has been in outstanding form this season, scoring seven, including FOUR last night. Just the 15th time in MLS history a player has scored four in a match.

With Raúl Ruidíaz on international duty, Morris was plugged into a strikers role, a position he excelled in at Stanford University. The 28-year-old looked every bit of the part constantly getting behind the Real defense and taking advantage of great service, and that was before Real’s red card.

Following Ben Sweat’s second yellow, Morris promptly scored twice in the next fifteen minutes to take his total to four on the day.

Honorable Mentions: Gaston Brugman (LA), Joao Kaluss (STL), Luciano Acosta (CIN), Christian Ramirez (CBS), Jean Mota (MIA), Franco Negri (MIA)
