MLS All-Stars set to face Arsenal

Arsenal will face some of the league’s stars this summers 2023 MLS All-Star Game at Audi Field in Washington DC. The Gunners, currently top of the Premier League return for the league’s annual exhibition after a seven-year hiatus, previously defeating the league’s stars 2-1 in the 2016 edition.
This season sees MLS revert to its tradition of inviting European clubs. From 2005 to 2019, MLS welcomed Chelsea, Real Madrid, Juventus, and more to the states. In the previous two seasons, MLS has competed against Liga MX All-Stars, coming out victorious in both matches.
DC United manager Wayne Rooney will be involved in his third MLS All-Star game, after competing against the squad as part of Manchester United in 2011 and being an All-Star himself in 2019 for DC. The Englishman will lead a squad of the league’s finest in his first managerial encounter with the London side after 35 encounters as a player.
Notably, the event will also serve as a reunion for goalkeeper and 2021 All-Star Game MVP Matt Turner. Turner joined Arsenal in 2022 after 7 seasons with the New England Revolution.
All-Star weekend festivities begin on July 18th with a skills competition with All-stars competing against Arsenal in a skills competition followed by the weekend main event, July 19th.
