Yunus Musah, who started all of the USMNT’s World Cup matches, has been linked with Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus recently. Now according to 90min, Chelsea has also registered their interest in the player.

90min also report: “Valencia have opened contract talks with United States midfielder Yunus Musah in an attempt to fend off mounting interest from the Premier League in the 20-year-old.”

Musah has been a key player for Valencia, since joining them in 2019. The Spanish side is currently 10th in La Liga, so a player of Musah’s quality should be looking to move to a club who can challenge for silverware.

Before his move to Valencia, Musah spent seven years in Arsenal’s academy, so a move back to London would be fitting for him.

Chelsea are interested in signing the USMNT’s Yunus Musah

Chelsea is a team that is expected to win trophies, and are very cut-throat when it comes to their managers if they do not perform. Thomas Tuchel found this out this season, and the Blues are currently eighth in the Premier League with Graham Potter at the helm, .

Musah is a central midfielder, so he would be competing with Jorginho and Mateo Kovačić for a starting place at Chelsea.

Potter’s side also has N’Golo Kanté and Conor Gallagher as central midfield options. However, Kanté is now in his thirties and has had injury problems recently, missing the World Cup, while Gallagher is still yet to establish himself in the side.

A move to Chelsea would be a big step up from Valencia. Therefore, Musah must think wisely about joining them, as first-team football would not be guaranteed.

What are Musah’s other options?

Musah only played for Arsenal’s academy, so he may feel he has unfinished business at the Gunners, and a chance to make his mark in their first team would fulfil the ambition he would have had as a young player at the club.

Many of Musah’s teammates from Arsenal’s youth team are still at the club, including Bukayo Saka, who is now starring for Mikel Arteta’s side and England.

Also, recently in an interview with CBS Sports, Musah said, “I loved playing for Arsenal. I’ve nothing against the club and if one day it turns out to be that it’s time to go back then it’s possible.”

Liverpool is another top side, which has competed for the Premier League title in recent seasons. Jurgen Klopp’s side has experienced central midfielders, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and James Milner, who Musah would be able to learn from and potentially one day replace as a mainstay in the side.

A move to Serie A with Juventus, could also be an option. However, his US teammate Weston McKennie is having a mixed time at the club, which could put Musah off joining the Old Lady.

Musah is a very young talented player, who has many suitors. For that reason, he must think long and hard before making a decision about his future. Especially as the next World Cup will be co-hosted by the USA and Musah will be 24 then, so will be expected to still be a key player in the Stars and Stripes’ midfield.
