Christian Pulisic has been the subject of much speculation about his future. There have been spurious links with a move to Italy recently but staying in the Premier League could be an option with the Mail reporting that Manchester United, Arsenal and Newcastle are all monitoring his situation.

Pulisic has impressed at the World Cup so far, assisting the USMNT’s only goal against Wales and hitting the crossbar against England. The January transfer window is just around the corner when he gets back from Qatar, but his club Chelsea would have reservations about selling him to a rival, while a move to Inter Milan or Juventus would be tempting to try out a different league.

However, if you look at their style of play and use of wing-backs, this would not be a good fit for Pulisic. When he has been played there by Graham Potter this season, he looked very much out of position.

Moving to Arsenal would be a tempting move at the moment, as they are currently top of the league and Pulisic would have a chance to win the title. Maintaining a challenge for the Premier League needs a squad with strength in depth and Pulisic would definitely be a boost for a side that already has Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Reiss Nelson as wingers.

Mikel Arteta’s side should be focusing in on getting another striker in though, as Gabriel Jesus  – despite five goals this season – is on a bit of a scoring drought. Also, there is the matter of Chelsea maybe not wanting to sell to a side which is currently occupying the spot that they want. While they are way shot of winning the title this season, Potter’s side will be expected to mount a challenge next season.

Manchester United are currently fifth in the table, while Newcastle are a very impressive third, so both teams are direct rivals for Chelsea – who will be looking to at least get into the Champions League next season by finishing in the top four.

The Red Devils are looking to get the club back to where they think they belong and need reinforcements following Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. Newcastle are a side that has great ambitions and a marquee signing like Pulisic would be a big statement of intent.

The Blues will be reluctant to sell to a rival and the club would look very stupid if Pulisic delivers the goals and assists which qualify another team for the Champions League at Chelsea’s expense.

He could, of course, stick it out at Chelsea and try and force his way into the side. While he may not have played as much as he would have liked, he has still made 13 appearances in the league this season, scoring once and getting one assist. There will be a lot of speculation about Pulisic but he is unlikely to leave unless a suitable option from a club outside of the Premier League comes in for him.

A fresh challenge outside of England would be a great fit for Pulisic – but as long as it is the right club that will play him in his position.
