Next up is Player of the Week. Also, for reference, I only took into account what happened over the weekend, not during the week last week.

NEW YORK, NY – NOVEMBER 21: Josef Martinez #7 of Atlanta United moves the ball across the pitch in the first half of the 2021 Audi MLS Cup Playoff match against New York City FC at Yankee Stadium on November 21, 2021 in New York, New York. (Photo by Ira L. Black – Corbis/Getty Images)

Player of the Week

F Josef Martinez (Atlanta United)=1 goal, 1 assist, 91.4% passing %, 3 shots, 2 shots on target, drew 2 fouls

Josef started looking more like old Josef again in Atlanta’s 2-0 win over Inter Miami. He scored in the 61st minute to help put the match away. He also picked up an assist on a 4th minute Luiz Araujo goal as Atlanta defeated their rivals from South Beach.

Josef also had his best game of the season passing-wise as he completed over 90% of his passes. Atlanta fans would love Josef to be hyper-aggressive, but if Josef is passing like he did on Sunday (with the attacking talent Atlanta has around him) then this offense will be difficult to stop. While Josef is working his way back from injury, if he’s able to play like this then Atlanta will be very dangerous in the 2nd half of the season as they try to make the playoffs (and make a run from there). Josef genuinely looked better than he has in a while in this match.

Honorable Mentions

Talles Magno

Ercan Kara

I would also like to mention a couple of honorable mentions in Talles Magno of NYCFC who scored a fantastic goal while completing 91.7% of his passes (and he drew four fouls). NYCFC ended up drawing 1-1 with Colorado. Ercan Kara of Orlando was also the only player this weekend to score multiple goals as he put two in the back of the net in Orlando’s 2-1 win over Houston. I would also be remissed if I didn’t mention Raul Ruidiaz who picked up a brace in Seattle’s 4-0 midweek thumping of Vancouver last Tuesday.
