NYCFC vs Atlanta United score predications

NYCFC was able to close out their season in strong fashion, going unbeaten in their final five regular season games, and collecting three wins in that span. Even down a man and a goal on Decision Day, the Boys in Blue were able to mount an impressive second half which saw them draw level with the Union and even threaten to take all the spoils with a series of promising attacks. While a win would’ve been preferable for playoff seeding purposes, the draw was a good result all things considered.

Unfortunately, the circumstances involving Zelalem’s sending off and a plethora of injuries in the midfield has put City behind the 8-ball. Even if the friendly confines of Yankee Stadium are guaranteed to them in a must-win matchup against Atlanta, a lack of reinforcements in the middle of the park could spell doom for NYCFC.

Despite all the red flags going into this one, it’s hard to picture any team not named the New York Red Bulls beating New York City on their makeshift home turf — even the record-breaking New England Revolution were completely outplayed on the ‘Etihad Pitch.’ 2021 Golden Boot winner Taty Castellanos is still firmly in the fold, and a strong attacking corps should be enough to see the club through.

A close game is virtually imminent and it won’t be easy, but history shows that NYCFC get it done in the Bronx, even when they’re not at full strength.
