Three takeaways from Los Angeles FC’s 4-0 win over Sporting Kansas City.
It was a much-needed win for Los Angeles FC on Friday night at Banc of California Stadium. The hosts, whose last win was in July, took advantage of the opportunities that came their way to earn a comfortable 4-0 win over Sporting Kansas City.
Despite being without multiple regular starters due to the September international break, LAFC’s reduced squad stepped up to deliver all three points. Leading the charge was defender Mamadou Fall who scored two goals from set pieces. Also registering goals were Eduard Atuesta and Cristian Arango.
The clean sheet result was LAFC’s first shutout since July 7th when they defeated Austin FC 2-0. Goalkeeper Tomas Romero recorded four saves against SKC and now has registered four clean sheets this season.
Here are three takeaways from LAFC’s 4-0 win on Friday night.

Fall paves the way to victory
It was a memorable night for Fall who scored his first two Major League Soccer goals. He produced two fantastic headers to register his two goals and was a constant threat on set pieces. At just 18, he certainly showed why he will be one to watch for as he continues his career at LAFC.
Winless streak ended
Entering this match, LAFC had failed to register a win in their last eight fixtures. After coming close last week against the Los Angeles Galaxy, only to give up a last-minute equalizer, it seemed almost as if LAFC was destined to continue their winless streak against one of the best Western Conference clubs. However, this match took an unexpected turn as it was LAFC who produced a fantastic performance to win 4-0.
Although LAFC still remains outside of the top seven places in the Western Conference, this win keeps them right in the battle for the final few playoff spots. There’s still plenty of time for them to finish the 2021 regular season campaign strong and qualify for the postseason for a fourth consecutive season.
Arango scores for the second consecutive match
With Diego Rossi’s departure and Carlos Vela out of the lineup on Friday, LAFC needed other players to step up and deliver goals. One of the players to rise to the occasion was Arango as he scored for the second consecutive match. The new addition to the LAFC squad could prove to be a player that can produce consistently when it comes to goal scoring. LAFC will need him to continue to score goals as Rossi was the leading scorer for the club this season before his transfer to Fenerbache.
