Captain of MLS All-Star Team Announced
By Nico Polanco
Cristian Roldan of the Seattle Sounders and USMNT will lead the MLS All-Star squad out on the pitch vs the Liga MX All-Stars on Wednesday, August 25th.
Roldan led the vote by fans on Twitter by a substantial margin, which only accentuates the hard work the Sounders organization does on social media, and their engagement with the fans. The 28 man squad which includes Cristian’s brother and Sounders teammate Alex, is comprised of a league-leading 6 Seattle players.

The Roldan brothers are accompanied by fellow teammates; Yeimar, Nouhou, João Paulo, and the current top goal scorer of the MLS this season, Raúl Ruidíaz. The news was broken to Roldan and the Seattle team via Head Coach Brian Schmetzer, who was coincidentally also celebrating his birthday, in the locker room following the 1-0 win Wednesday night in Frisco, TX vs FC Dallas.

That game was decided by a lone Ruidíaz goal in the 63rd minute, 30 seconds after coming off the bench, bringing his tally up to 14 this campaign. After 20 games this season, Seattle finds themselves at the top of the Western Conference with 39 points, 1 point clear of Kansas City.
The All-Star Game is set to take place at the LAFC Stadium in Los Angeles and will be broadcast live on FS1, Univision, TSN, and TVA Sports per the MLS. Cristian being an LA native will hope to lift the trophy in his hometown and secure even more bragging rights over our southern neighbors.
