Multiple sources tell ‘MLS Multiplex’ that the Austrian club is closely tracking the DC United midfielder with a possible transfer approach coming either this window or in January. The 18-year old has experience with the U16 United States national team as well as in MLS and Loudon United, the DC United reserve team that plays in the USL.
So far this season, Paredes has 12 appearances for DC United with seven starts. He has 787 minutes played in the league with two goals. In two years with the first team, Paredes has 29 appearances (17 starts) totaling 1,671 minutes played with two goals and an assist.
He can play on either side of midfield although he has been predominantly deployed on the left side this season. Paredes is an exciting attacking player and dynamic when isolated on the wing.
Kevin Paredes linked to Champions League side & Austrian champions
The interest in Kevin Paredes shouldn’t be a surprise given that he is one of the top young players in MLS. The link to Salzburg is encouraging given that they routinely play their young signings and are known for developing players for moves either to RB Leipzig in the German Bundesliga or other European sides.
Should a move to Salzburg come to fruition, it would be a tremendous landing spot for the teenage attacker.
Salzburg won the Austrian Bundesliga a season ago under Jesse Marsch, a former United States international who is now coach of RB Leipzig. The Austrian side features the aforementioned Aaronson, who has developed into a regular with the Champions League club. Aaronson’s strong play for Salzburg has propelled him into a prominent role with the United States national team in recent months.
